Common questions
Why does my iPhone ask for a passcode every time?
Since iOS 16.1, Apple asks for the passcode every time. That prompt comes from your iPhone, not from ScribeHold, and nothing on your PC can skip it. It annoys me too.
Does ScribeHold work with encrypted backups?
Not yet. If you set a backup password, the run will fail. Turn encryption off before your first run.
What does ScribeHold keep, and what does it throw away?
ScribeHold keeps your messages, attachments and contacts, and discards everything else as it goes. Nothing on the iPhone is changed, and nothing is uploaded. See Privacy.
Can I restore my iPhone from ScribeHold?
No. ScribeHold copies your messages so you can read, search and export them, and it cannot put anything back onto a phone. Use iCloud or Finder to back up the device itself.
How do I cancel?
Any time, two ways. Go to My Account for a secure link, or email support@scribehold.com from the address on your purchase and we will cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues through your current billing period.
